CASSESE® Masters™ V-nails
VS Imitations
A few years after the invention of the cartridge wedges (patented), glued wedges appeared on the market.
Cassese decided then to make silicone
coated wedges, in order to make all customers benefit from the Cassese quality, even if they have an underpinner from another brand.

FROM MOULDING AFTER JOINING
Masters™ wedges are made from a special steel alloy which gives shape memory properties to the wedge. This way, when it penetrates into the moulding, it spreads its wings which -because of shape memory- try then to come back to their initial position.
This results in pulling very strongly the 2 pieces of mouldings towards each other, so as to give a perfectly closed corner. This is one of the reasons of Cassese worldwide-known excellent joining!
• 2 types :
Type AL for Alfamacchine/Minigraf underplnners (11mm wide)
Type UNI for almost all other brands of underpinners (10.5 mm wide)
• 7 sizes :
Available in 5, 7, 10, 12 & 15mm for Softwood or Hardwood.
3mm & 4mm (ideal for fillets and slips) are also available on request.
Wedges are not stuck together with glue or adhesive, since the accumulation of their residue can create jamming in the firing mechanism. Cassese uses an exclusive silicone-based mixing which doesn't leave residue and consequently avoids jamming.
In addition it allows a much better penetration of the wedge into the wood.
Indeed, the silicone spreads along the wedge, and thus helps it slide and insert much better into the moulding.
In order to identify quickly the wedges inside or outside the underpinners, silicone is coloured depending on the type and hardness of wedges:
• Grey silicone for AL Softwood
• Black Silicone for AL Hardwood
• White Silicone for UNI Softwood
• Red Silicone for UNI Hardwood
